Next week, June 2-12 , we kick off the third annual Northern Arizona Playwriting Showcase! The Showcase is a summer collaboration between NAU's Creative Writing Department and Theatrikos Theatre Company.

Please come out for our third staged reading of seven short plays on Thursday, June 10, 2010, 8:00 p.m . at the Doris Harper White Community Playhouse. The performances, directed by seven Theatrikos veterans, will make for a fantastic evening to remember--a chance to see brand-new, never-before-seen theater in Flagstaff !

We are also currently seeking actors for the staged readings of the winning plays. Auditions for actors will be held Thursday, June 3, 2010, 6:30-8:30 p.m . in LA 135 on the NAU campus. For those of you who love theater but are short on time especially, this is a terrific opportunity—we'll be selecting 20+ actors of various ages and genders, and the rehearsal and performance process is one week only (rehearsals are June 5, 1-4pm ; June 7-8, 5:30-6:30 ; and a dress rehearsal on June 9 , 6-?), with one performance Thursday evening . This is a staged reading; no memorization necessary. So please, do consider coming out to audition on Thursday !

The playwriting competition, judged by playwright Patrick Baliani, closes Wed. May 26th, and the seven winning plays will be announced on our blog as soon as possible.
